A High School Student’s Guide to Preparing for Electrician Trade School

Are you a high school student considering a career as an electrician? Preparing early can set you up for success in a trade school or apprenticeship program. The Electrical Joint Training Committee (EJTC) offers a comprehensive Electrical Entry Level Trades Training (ELTT) program that provides a direct pathway into the electrical trade. Here’s how you can start preparing for electrician trade school while still in high school.

Choosing the Right High School Courses

Taking the right courses in high school can give you a strong foundation for trade school. For example, electricians need a different skillset than those of say, a plumber.
